The Insanity of Assumptions

You hand a potential client a proposal. Their brow furrows. Boom. Your brain immediately jumps to your worst possible conclusion. They think I’m charging too much.

By projecting your own biggest fear onto them, you will completely miss their real concern. In your defensiveness, you’ll offer them the wrong solution.

The “insanity of assumptions” happens when we treat the unchecked stories in our heads as truth. It can poison our relationships and keep us stuck repeating painful cycles. We assume our own insecurities are the problem.

Practice this…

Next time someone goes quiet or looks concerned, take a breath. Don’t assume. Don’t react. Just ask a question and listen.

Catch one assumption today, replace it with a brave question. Then listen to the response.

You’ll find tension vanishes when you stop defending yourself and start focusing the team on solving the problem.

In my book Isolation to Impact, we explore 10 simple daily habits, that will put your life and your business back on track from day one.
