from managing to leading
About my book
It’s 6:20 PM and you’re still at the office fixing a mistake you didn’t make. On paper, you’re the boss. In reality, you’re the one working harder than anyone on your payroll.
Drawing on decades of experience in the trades, author Joe Sanfilippo shows you how to build relationships with your employees, your supply network, and your clients so you can scale your business.
Anchor your life and business in values you want to see in the world, and move from managing to leading.
About the Author
Armed with a Civil Engineering degree and disillusioned by corporate consulting, I launched my own contracting business.
My goal was to help families stay warm and safe through brutal winters, and to do it with integrity. MY way. But as my business grew, that “lone wolf” mentality became the biggest bottleneck.
Sound familiar? If you are a burnt-out business owner or overwhelmed contractor fighting the daily grind, I’ve been there. Please don’t do this alone. The business you dreamed you’d have by now, is still out there, and I can show you how to build it.
Clark’s Terrible Tuesday
It was an honor to present “Clark’s Terrible Tuesday: 4 Daily Habits That Turn Contractor Chaos into Real Impact” at the 2026 Clean Energy for Homes Conference in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Thank you to everyone who attended, engaged in the discussion, and continues pushing our industry forward. Opportunities like this remind us that leadership, communication, and culture are just as important as the technical work itself.
I’m grateful to share the message of “Isolation to Impact” and connect with others committed to building stronger teams, businesses, and communities.
